The Basophil Activation Test (BAT) is a modern cellular method of allergy diagnosis, which due to its high efficiency has firmly taken its place in the diagnostic algorithm of food, pollen and drug allergy, and chronic urticaria. A promising direction of the BAT is to evaluate the effectiveness of specific immunotherapy, treatment with anti-IgE drugs, and the natural resolution of allergy. The current review presents the main approach of the BAT procedure and the efficacy of the use for the diagnosis for various types of allergies, as well as the rules for evaluating the diagnostic results.
