Role of Rhodotorula yeast in humoral immume response in patient with atopic dermatitis

Some parameters of total and specific humoral and cellular immunity were searched in 6 years old girl patient with atopic dermatitis, which had yeast Rhodotorula sp. on the hands skin. Yeasts sensitivity test showed a resistance to azoles, but susceptibility to pimafucin and citrosept. The immune status analysis demonstrated the following: most of parameters were out of age limit norms; disbalance in T-lymphocytes content and phagocytal activity of neutrophils; increased concentration of IgG and IgM, which concerned with the active inflectional process. Zirtek, likopid, linex, and lactofiltrum were administered pes os, but citrosept solution, Pimafucort crme and Locobase repare locally. Amelioration became after 2,5 weeks, with minimum 6 months remission of disease. At the repeated examination of the skin yeast was not detected. Control immunological examination showed the positive dynamics, which consist in normalization of parameters of phagocytosis and humoral immunity, with a tendency to improvement of subpopulational content of lymphocytes. A study of child serum by dot-blot analysis and immunoblotting with extracts of surface layers of Rhodotorula cells allowed to determine a presence of specific IgG and IgE, that may indicate the participation of this yeast in allergic inflammation process. A causative antigen (allergen) of the yeast for the patient was a protein with molecular mass about 73,5 kDa.
